Today we were leaving Naples and heading to Amalfi. I am not really sorry to move as Naples just did not move me. We got breakfast up on the Terrance of our hotel.

One last look at Mt Vesuvius
One quick shot out of the car window on our drive through the curvy and twisting roads at the area near Pompeii

Our approach into the town of Amalfi

I tried to get a couple of pictures from the car as we came into town, both to show the beauty and the rugged terrain of the town
This is a picture I pulled off the internet of our hotel. I am pretty sure most of the building you see are part of this hotel. It was an old monastery that has been converted into a five star hotel. I could not get a good picture as we drove in.

This a a view down on the city of Amalfi.
Everything here is built right into the mountain
The view from our patio
Our patio
Our room is in a separate little building tucked up behind the tree on the left
It is a bit of a hike to reach our rooms
The area you see below is where the stairs up to our suite start
Another pretty picture from our door
From the furthest section of as seen off our patio
This picture was taken off the balcony by the restaurant
One of the four sections of stairs to get to our room
The top most section of stairs
Straight down from our patio
From our patio we can see this set of buildings that look like they could have been a fortress or castle at one time. It is at a point of the top of the hill and I would guess it would have great views up and down the coastlines
If it was not raining, I would have been out here reading this afternoon. We got here at 1pm, checking is not until three, but as the room was listed as ready, they had us wait in the bar that is next to the reception while they double check our room was ready. Then they scourged us up and two of the strong young bellmen brought our luggage up a few minutes later. We were given damp towels to freshen up with and fresh squeezed lemonade made with lemons from their orchard
Night heading back up to our room after dinner. The lights are our patio lights
A picture of Amalfi from our patio this evening as we sat in the hot tub at the end of the patio.
I can’t wait to explore the hotel and maybe Amalfi tomorrow.
