Driving coast to coast

This summer we took our longest driving trip yet. From our new home on Florida’s Atlantic coast to Vancouver Island BC and back. Around 10,000 miles driving. Five and a half weeks. We started up 441 through the Smokey mountains National Forest.

On our way through there we spotted some wildlife along the roads.

On a hike in the park Dale spotted a Momma bear and two cubs Crossing the trail. Needless to say everyone gave them the right away.

We stay a couple of night in Gatlinburg and loved walking down the touristy main area. One of the drinks we got was from the place in the picture above. So good. I would love to spend a couple of more days when the temps aren’t near 100! We travel through Missouri on our way from there to see my aunt. On our way we had a nice dinner in Columbia MO with Terry and Rosie. I did not do a great job getting pictures on this trip, I will try to do better!

In Sioux City we were able to take my 91 year old aunt out to lunch and to Palmer Candy Company. We also had dinner with my cousin Linda and Breakfast the next day with my cousin Mary. I loved catching up with them.
Next we headed to the black hills to stay the night in Hill City

We had fun walking there down town and even added to the town’s economy.

This big guy was so well done I had to get my picture with him. We had dinner in town that night. The place only had two entrees offered. We choose the fillet 6 once fillet full dinner, it was very taste and the price of 13.99 could not be beat.

The next morning saw us driving through the black hill national forest and seeing Mt Rushmore.

Then we headed through Custer State park on their wildlife loop with wild donkeys

The antelope were playing

Buffalos with babies

We made it to Casper in time for Dale and AJ to get a little golf in. Allisa and I visited my home at here hospice room.

I did not take any picture then, but AJ and Allisa took this one on her 90th Birthday on July 19

Then we’re were on to SLC area. We say tons of people there, but again I got few pictures. We got to see friends and family. Got to go to a couple of places with our oldest daughter and youngest two grandkids. Got to spend some time and have dinner with  Fae and their partner Winter. I am not listing everyone we saw, but thank you for making time to see us and do something’s with us!
We headed out west then driving into the sunset, with stops in Clancy MT and Liberty Lake, WA to visit with friends.

Then we got to spend a couple of day with our son Shawn in Oregon City

The fourth if July we were with Erik and Kristine. We headed up to Victoria Canada for a couple of fun days. Our first day we spent here.

Including a delightful tea at the Gardens

The second day we again indulged in a tea, but this one was at the Empress Hotel

Then we headed to the butterfly garden and made new friends

Friday morning we headed back to the USA and had a wonderful lunch at the Oak Table in Sequim with my uncle and aunt (Jim and Carol)

We spent Saturday having a fun day at Shawn’s new townhome playing games and I finished a cosplay coat I had been making for him

We met up in Portland Sunday morning

We headed to the Japanese gardens in Portland  for some time before we headed south to drop Erik and Kristen off in Eugene. Then we turn our car hood east.

It was so fun walking the gardens together

After two brief stop in Utah valley and four days driving we arrived in Lawrence KS for a reunion at my brother and Sister-in-laws house. We wimped out and stayed at a hotel, but there were around twenty five people staying with them. A lot of major work for them and I want to say a big thank you to them here. We shared meal prep, but the bulk of the work was them.

They even provided crazy fun entertainment fire dancing, boating, dance party, axe throwing, BB gun shorting, golf,  crafting, and Kareoke.

It was a fun time to spend some time visiting each other

Quite a crazy crew.
We stayed a little longer after the other left. Karla and I took the girls swimming at the pool at our hotel whole the guys golf  both days. It was great to just spend some quiet time with them.

Friday morning found us back walking the beach near our house and enjoying the water. A totally fun trip and we have a busy time before our next trip.
I will try to keep this travel blog up. We are so blessed with the chance to travel and people watching our house so we can relax and not worry.
