Mr Dale’s Wild Ride

This blog is titled Mr Dale’s Wild Ride or Melbourne to Moama and back again.

This morning we woke to a rainy day, but we were undaunted  by this and Dale decide that he should rent a car then we should drive up to visit Becca

We had to figure out some new terminology for me to navigate him around as when we were leaving the rental car parking, I told him to turn left. He turned to his other left, which was right, wrong?!?

We drove through some fun towns on our way north. After we figured out that turns should go to “the driver’s side” or “the passenger’s side” that usually worked, most of the time.

The GPS gave us different ways coming and going, but the idea is the same. Over the rivers and through the woods to Beeca’s house we go.

Even though most of the scenic pictures are taken from the car, I did get a few

Some of the architecture of the buildings just are astonishing
Even rain touched, they were outstanding

Big old churches and fun building make up a lot of my blog pictures

In between rolling green farm land.

Sheep in the fields

Cows in the pasture

And fields upon fields of these yellow flowers which I found out are canola. Victoria state is forecasted to product over 1.35 million Tons of canola oil this year

We stopped for lunch in the town right on the Victoria side of the Murray River.

We had a tasty lunch

And one of Asta favorites, Bruschetta

After lunch we took a stroll around the old town part of town

I seem to be taking pictures of old banks, so I carried on with this one

I had a bit of a sugar craving after lunch, so we peeked into a couple of shops

This one was totally fun, but just did not grab me

It was a interesting place to inhale at

We then walked by the river and saw some of the paddle side wheel boats

There were several of assorted shapes and sizes

They also had a street the could have come right out of the 1800’s

All that was missing were some horses tied up to hitching posts

I love the displays of wood we have seen here and in NZ

Echuca had much more charm than I had expected. It would have been a fun place to spend a couple of days

We then toddled over the River and through the trees to Moama and the main attraction of the day, Becca and meeting her wonderful husband Scott again. Then being introduced to his very nice parent. It was such a treat to get to spend some time visiting with them.

Before we left, we were treated to delicious fresh made scones and tea. It was the perfect thing and just hit that hunger I still had after lunch. Becca was our daughter from other parents, who married an Aussie and now lives down under. She was our oldest daughter’s best friend and such a special person in our lives. She said it has been a hard year with illnesses for her, but her wonderful smile was present. She looked great to me!
It was so nice to get to hug her and talk in person

On the drive back to Melbourne, we went over several rivers

By much greenery

Even a couple of large lakes.

We made the trip with very few nervous moments and no serious damage, but it was a bit hard as things seemed a bit backward

The rental agency was closed when we got back, so we will need to return the car tomorrow morning.

May your days be filled with love and connections
