We headed out in the morning after a cool night
Our first stop was in Geraldine
We had lunch at this fun cafe
The had all kinds of Jams and spreads for your scones and
There was this cool old church right by where parked our bus
They had a fun little shopping area where I got some cool hand lotion as my hands were quite dry
Another fun set of shops
This area was pretty much farming area with lots of sheep and cows
With a lot of rivers flowing through it
Even though it if farm/ ranch lane it is very hilly
Cows were on of the main animals I saw this day
We stopped at this lake, which is glacier feed, hence the ice blue color.
We all were taking lots of photos as it was such a gorgeous view
This statue was dedicated to all the dogs who help herd animals
This is one of the oldest churches in the area
It was closed, but had a nice big picture window right behind the altar area
The names of it is the church of the good shepherd
This is the dedication plaque
There was even an observatory right near
Dale and I then went on a plane ride over glaciers and the highest mountain in New Zealand
The glacier feed lack we took off and flew over
Also much of their power is hydroelectric, these canals run water from one dam to another
This picture shows the area the glacier has cut out, but that not has gotten much vegetation yet
We got up above the clouds as we circled some of the mountains
This is where some of the glacier has broken off and slid down
This is Mt Cook, the highest peak in New Zealand
This is the largest glacier as it curves it’s way to the down to the lakes
The line you see between the sea color and the top of the cloud cover ids the ocean
Here is one of the smaller glacier lakes
The land the glacier carved out as it flowed through, then melted looks barren
The tracks of the glacier’s different path is visible if you look from above.
The sun photographed with the brilliant sunbursts
Looking like it is shooting lasers out, this sun picture was fun
On our way to our hotel, we drove by several lakes
We saw these wooden decorations on our walk near our motel where we stopped for the night.
This was our motel
This was the school for the area
This was the Main Street. It was a very small community. We had an interesting and fun day.
