Today we just did more exploring in Auckland
We headed down Queen Street after breakfast
Passed the arcade, which is like our malls, not video games
We turned and headed down Customs Street E
There is so much building going on here in Auckland. I could fill a blog just of different road and building work going on
It still is fun to see building over 150 years old next to huge modern buildings
Building art seems to be a big thing in New Zealand
We went to a Saturday Market closest to our hotel
It was not huge, but fun anyway. The night markets all seemed to need us to get a cab and that did not seem like a good idea
This is the Sky Tower looking up from the street
After getting our tickets we headed up to floor 51
Things got smaller and smaller as we went
Most of us were not to keen to stand on the glass floor of the elevator
This picture is of the harbor. The land directly across is called Davenport. It is a 15 minute ferry ride or over a half hour drive. Farther out you can see an island that looks like it has a small mountain on it, that was the one we were at yesterday. This is on the 50th floor deck
This is taken from the 60th floor. The bridge in the background is the Auckland Bridge

This is a panoramic shot of greater Auckland
The large green area is the woods and park we walked to and through a couple of days ago
Another view of how massive this city is
That is our hotel. It is brand new and the main entrance is not even complete yet
The triangular building is the one I said was the cultural center. The buildings to the right part and lower part of the pictures are the new complex
We walked down stairs to the 49th floor cafe for some ice cream and tea. The I cream in fudge brownie and the lower one is an New Zealand flavor called Hokie Pokie. It is honey vanilla with toffee bits
While we ate our cold treat and drank our hot tea we looked out the window in front of us. This center set of buildings are a housing complex that totally enclosed their common space. Kinda cool looking
We also saw a ferry coming into the wharf areas
And some of the sailboats that give Auckland the nickname of the port of a thousand sails
We also saw three of the cars used to the show nightrider. The cars name was Kitt and it was a duster intelligent car
For dinner today we stop into a little Japanese restaurant
I had a Bento Box of Chicken teriyaki
After we got back to our room, I looked out the window and saw how dramatic the lighted Sky Tower looked against the cloudy night sky.
Tomorrow late afternoon our flight will head out to Australia and we will say a fond farewell to New Zealand. In the morning we may have to see about finding some good chocolates as we finished what we had today, not even any of the emergency supply still left🙃
Hope you are all enjoying your days
