Today's blog on a past travel is to Hawaii. Hawaii is one of my Husband and my favorite places to spend some time. If possible we have tried to go every couple of years for the pas 10 years or so. This was are late February and early March trip 2019 in highlights.
This first picture is from our hotel room in Honolulu
We do not go to Oahu often, but as most of our family were coming for a week, we choose that Island as some of them had never been there.
Walking Waikiki in the evening before most of the family got there was a nice thing to enjoy.
After a couple of day, we moved to an airBNB on the north side of the island. This is were most of our family meet us. It was the wet side of the island so we got plenty of rain, but still found time to go zip-lining and to the Polynesian Center.
We spent a good part of one day touring the Center and in the evening we had dinner at the center and then went to their show.
After a few day on that part of the Island, we head over for a few days at Disney's Aulani. This was my first time there, even though it is my home resort for my Disney Vacation Club membership.I have to admit, I really enjoyed it and my kids and grandkids liked it a lot too. It is on the dry side of the island, so mostly we had sunny nice days there.
Even though we had condo's we ate at one of there charater dinners.
We bid goodbye to our kids as they went home and we headed over to Maui, which is our favorite island. Our first few days on the island were spent at Hana on the rainy side of the island. The road to Hana is truly an experience. We have done it several times, but our favorite way to do it is start about noon and drive to Hana, then stay in Hana for a night or two in Hana with side trips to the sacred pools and black beach. The drive back toward the dry side of the island in the morning, that way you are doing the opposite of most people and tour companies.
These next three pictures are all taken at our resort in Hana.
Then we headed to our favorite place, Kaanapali Beach. We usually get one of the condos on the beach by Whaler Mall.
This was the view sitting on our lanai
This is the Banyan Tree in old Lahaina. We love to walk down town old Lahaina, then get a ice cream sandwich from Banyan Treats and came across the street and sit under the tree to eat our treat.
Several times a week, there are craft fairs around the area. I love to check out what the locals have to sell.
The thing I love about going to Maui at this time of the year is whale watching.
We love to take several trip out in small raft boats or even just sit on our lanai and watch them
Aso one of the things we always do is to take a sunset dinner sailing cruise. Our favorite has become the Alii Nui. The food is really good and the crew is aways great.
Another thingr thing we usually do while is go to a luau. The feast at Lele has been the one we have liked best of the ones we have attended there.
Another must for us, is having lunch or dinner at Mama's Fish House. The food and serve are outstanding. And the setting is wonderful.
While waiting to get seated or after dinner the area outside is worth the trip there alone.
This has been just a brief overview of that last trip. I have never been there when I have said to myself, I can't wait to leave. Usually, no matter how long I have gotten to stay, it is do I really have to leave.
Aloha for now!
